The Type of People Who Support the Status Quo Exposed

I've debated whether to even release this piece of garbage that I received two years ago when I ran for Tribal Council, but I do think it sheds light on some of the types of people who support Chief Hicks and his political cronies like Angela Kephart. It's run exactly as I received it, misspellings, grammatical errors and all:
"Joe Martin, just who do you think you are running for tribal council?
All you ever do is run people down. And especially against Mrs. Kephart. That woman is a eloquent and distinguised person that represents her people well. Just ask any one of them. You've never heard her criticize people like you do. They all love her down there.
And all you are is a big crybaby over loosing your job because you deserved it. Now you start your own crybaby newspaper and run it in the ground. And what about all those people that subscribed to it---did you give their money back? You are one heck of a joke to even think about running for anything----except somewhere else. You best pack your duds and head back to Alabama, maybe you can find some redneck radicals there that will listen to you, although I doubt it.
Joe, Blow, what a joke you are!!!"
I'm not going to respond to particulars, but at the risk that making this person feel that he's worthy of debate, I will respond to two points.
One as far as "running people down," what I actually did was report the truth and attempted to inspire debate, which enhances the democratic process. That's what Michell Hicks didn't like.
The other is the writer's obvious contempt for people who live in and are from the state of Alabama. I'm very proud of where I grew up. I graduated from one of the nation's top public universities, that being Auburn University. I also graduated from a well respected high school. My graduating class had six national merit scholars. And to this author, when a graduate of your high school becomes a member of the president's cabinet, feel free to look down your nose at me.
The other point I really want to make is particularly to tribal members who live away from Cherokee. This is what the status quo really thinks of you. They're fine with you as long as you're ignorantly casting ballots to keep them in power, but if you decide to move back home to your people, don't expect a warm welcome from these people.
The best you can do is educate yourselves on all of the candidates. Ask yourselves what do they represent? What problems do they see with the tribe and what plans to they have to address those problems? If you get the answers to those questions and feel that the status quo is the best, that's fine. But please don't blindly vote, and question anything sent you, from anyone.
