As an independent contractor who has worked hard for my pay from the tribal government (and, I must add, at a rate that is much discounted specifically for the tribe), and who has regularly sent invoices to the tribal government for the last several years, I can attest that payments now are at a virtual standstill.
Although, why am I surprised when at various time during the Hicks administration, the police department has had its power turned off due to power bills that were just thrown in a desk drawer, and the tribal court almost had its power turned off during a session of court (that is, until a tribal court judge had the men who were simply doing their job arrested and taken into custody and charged with contempt of court!).
Why would they bother to pay this little independent contractor when they won't even pay the police department's or the court's bills though?
Could it be because enormous amounts of money have been completely squandered over the years? Where, oh where, did it all go?
